Tesla C EO Elon Musk says he has moved into a three-bedroom home in South Texas that cost him $45,000.

Musk discussed his new home in Boca Chica, Texas, at length during a podcast interview published Friday, saying he bought it as a two-bedroom home but converted the garage into a third bedroom.

"My friends come and stay, and they can't believe I'm staying in this house," Musk said.

Musk previously lived in a manufactured tiny home in Texas, but he admitted during the interview that he mostly uses the home, built by Boxabl, as a guest house. The 800-900 square foot home cost around $50,000, according to Musk.

"I don't actually stay at the Boxabl," Musk said. "The house that I bought actually costs less than a Boxabl."

The CEO's Gigafactory and Starship Factory brought him to the state of Texas in the first place, making it where Musk "needed to be." Now, he's petitioning to change the street name where his second home is located to "Memes." He said he picked the location because it is "right next to the rocket factory."

"I can just literally walk to the rocket factory," Musk said, referring to a SpaceX facility, which he is also the CEO of. "It's, like, half a mile away."

However, Musk does not recommend tiny-home living for everyone. His family does not live with him in the Boxabl or three-bedroom home.

"I don't think everybody's got to live in a $50,000 box," Musk said. "That's definitely not needed."
